Musnad Ahmad 16007 — Hadith of Wathilah ibn Al-Asqa' from the people
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَلِيحِ بْنِ أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أُمِرْتُ بِالسِّوَاكِ حَتَّى خَشِيتُ أَنْ يُكْتَبَ عَلَيَّ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Wathilah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have been commanded so frequently regarding the miswak that I began to fear it might become obligatory upon me.
