Musnad Ahmad 15423 — Hadith of a man who met the Prophet
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَزَّاقِ , وَرَوْحٍ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي حَسَنُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّمَا الطَّوَافُ صَلَاةٌ ، فَإِذَا طُفْتُمْ فَأَقِلُّوا الْكَلَامَ " , قال عبد الله , قال أبي : وَلَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ .
It is narrated from a companion that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Tawaf is like prayer, so when you perform Tawaf, speak less.
