(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الطُّفَيْلِ , قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ : وَسَمِعْت أَبِي مَرَّةً ، يَقُولُ : حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الطُّفَيْلِ الْبَكَّائِيُّ الْعَامِرِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورٌ , عَنْ سَالِمٍ , عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , قَالَ : وُلِدَ لِرَجُلٍ مِنَّا غُلَامٌ فَسَمَّاهُ مُحَمَّدًا , فَقُلْنَا : لَا نَدَعُكَ تُسَمِّيهِ مُحَمَّدًا بِاسْمِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَتَى الرَّجُلُ بِابْنِهِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , إِنَّهُ وُلِدَ لِي غُلَامٌ , وَإِنِّي سَمَّيْتُهُ بِاسْمِكَ , فَأَبَى قَوْمِي أَنْ يَدْعُونِي ، قَالَ : " بَلَى , تَسَمَّوْا بِاسْمِي , وَلَا تَكَنَّوْا بِكُنْيَتِي , فَإِنِّي قَاسِمٌ أَقْسِمُ بَيْنَكُمْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a child was born to an Ansari, and he named him Muhammad. We said to him, "We will not allow you this until we ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." So we came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Name with my name, but do not use my kunyah (patronymic) as your kunyah, because I have been sent among you as one who distributes."
