(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " قَارِبُوا وَسَدِّدُوا ، فَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ يُنَجِّيهِ عَمَلُهُ " ، قَالُوا : وَلَا إِيَّاكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : وَلَا إِيَّايَ ، إِلَّا أَنْ يَتَغَمَّدَنِي اللَّهُ بِرَحْمَتِهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Remain close (to the right path) and do what is correct, for none of you will be saved by his deeds. The companions asked: O Messenger of Allah! Not even you? He said: Not even me, unless Allah covers me with His mercy.
