(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حُجَيْنُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى أَبُو عُمَرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : لَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَغْزُو فِي الشَّهْرِ الْحَرَامِ ، إِلَّا أَنْ يُغْزَى ، أَوْ يُغْزَوْ ، فَإِذَا حَضَرَ ذَلِكَ أَقَامَ حَتَّى يَنْسَلِخَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not engage in jihad during the sacred months, except if war was imposed by others. Otherwise, when the sacred months began, he would refrain until they ended.
