(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الزُّهْرِيُّ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْهَادِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ خَبَّابٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، هَذَا السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ قَدْ عَلِمْنَاهُ ، فَكَيْفَ الصَّلَاةُ عَلَيْكَ ؟ قَالَ : " قُولُوا : اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدِكَ وَرَسُولِكَ ، كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، وَبَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَآلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! We have learned the way to send salutations upon you, but how should we send blessings (salat) upon you?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Say: O Allah! Send blessings upon Your servant and messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim (peace be upon him), and send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim (peace be upon him)."
