حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ , عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ مُؤَذِّنِ مَسْجِدِ دِمَشْقَ , عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ لُدَيْنٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ , قََالَ : سَأَلْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ صَوْمِ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ , فَقََالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ يَوْمُ عِيدٍ , فَلَا تَجْعَلُوا يَوْمَ عِيدِكُمْ يَوْمَ صِيَامٍ , إِلَّا أَنْ تَصُومُوا قَبْلَهُ أَوْ بَعْدَهُ " .
Aamir Ash'ari says that I asked Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) about the ruling of fasting on Friday, so he replied that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Friday is a day of Eid, so do not fast on the day of Eid except that you fast along with it on Thursday or Saturday."
