حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ , حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ , عَنْ أَبِي زِيَادٍ الطَّحَّانِ , سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يُحَدِّثُ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ يُنَجِّيهِ عَمَلُهُ " , قَالُوا : وَلَا أَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " وَلَا أَنَا , إِلَّا أَنْ يَتَغَمَّدَنِي اللَّهُ مِنْهُ بِرَحْمَةٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: None of you will be saved by his deeds. A man asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), not even you?" He replied, "Not even me, unless my Lord covers me with His forgiveness and mercy."
