حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ , عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، قََالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ عَاصِمِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قََالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ : إِنَّ أَوْفَقَ الدُّعَاءِ أَنْ يَقُولَ الرَّجُلُ : " اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي ، وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ ، ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي , وَاعْتَرَفْتُ بِذَنْبِي يَا رَبِّ , فَاغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي , إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ رَبِّي , إِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذَّنْبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ " .
Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the most complete supplication is that a person says: O Allah, You are my Lord and I am Your servant. I have wronged myself. I admit my sins. O Lord! Forgive my sins. You alone are my Lord, and none besides You can forgive sins.
