حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ , أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ , عَنِ أَبِي الْوَلِيدِ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ بِالطَّوَّافِ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تُطْعِمُوهُ لُقْمَةً لُقْمَةً , إِنَّمَا الْمِسْكِينُ الْمُتَعَفِّفُ الَّذِي لَا يَسْأَلُ النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The needy is not the one who can be turned away with two dates or one or two morsels; the real needy is the one who does not ask anything from people, and others do not know of his needs so that they may spend on him.
