Those Who Say There Is No Riba Between a Master and His Slave

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was of the opinion that there is no usury between a master and his slave. For this reason, he used to buy fruits from his slaves before they ripened.

Shu'bi says that there is no usury between a slave and his master. The master can give one dirham to the slave and take two dirhams from him.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that there is no usury between a slave and his master.

Hazrat Jabir and Ibrahim state that there is no usury between a slave and his master.

21239 - [وعن هشام الدستوائي عن قتادة عن جابر بن زيد] (1).

21240 - From Hisham, from Hammad, from Ibrahim, who said: There is no riba between a slave and his master.

Hazrat Mughira says that I asked Ibrahim and Hazrat Sha'bi whether a master gives his slave five dirhams every month and demands that you give me two hundred dirhams every month, and I will give you nine dirhams every month. These gentlemen said that there is no harm in it.

Hasan and Hazrat Ibn Sirin considered it disliked for a man to give his slave dirhams on the condition that he would increase them in grain. Ibn Sirin says that he should give him an animal or a ride or something, then he may increase as much as he wishes.

21243 - Ibn Sirin said: He gives him (a she-camel) (1) or a riding animal or other types of gifts; and he may add to it as much as he wishes.

Hazrat Jabir bin Zaid and Hasan say that there is no usury between a slave and his master.

Hazrat Ata says that there is no usury between a slave and his master.
