Ruling if Intercourse Occurs with a Body Part Other than the Private Part

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that a lot of madhy (pre-seminal fluid) would come out from me. Since the daughter of the Messenger of Allah was in my marriage, I felt shy to ask (the Prophet), so I told a man and he asked the Prophet on my behalf. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you see madhy, perform ablution and clean your private part, and if you see semen, then perform ghusl (full ritual bath).

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said that a lot of madhi (pre-seminal fluid) would be discharged from me, because of which I used to perform ghusl repeatedly. This matter reached the Prophet, so he instructed me to perform wudu.

Hazrat Awza'i says that if a woman's body comes into contact with her husband's semen, she should not perform ghusl; if the semen enters the private part, then she should perform ghusl.

Ibrahim says that if a man has intercourse with his wife in a place other than the private part, then the man should perform ghusl, and if the woman does not have orgasm, she should only wash her private part.

Hazrat Mak'hool states that if a man ejaculates while lying beside his wife and his semen touches the woman, then ghusl is not obligatory on the woman; however, she should wash the place where the semen touched. But if it touches her private part, then ghusl will be obligatory.

Hazrat Firas says that I bought a young slave girl, and I would have intercourse with her without ejaculating. I asked Hazrat Sha'bi about this, and he said: You should perform ghusl; wudu is sufficient for her.

Hasan was asked about a man who has intercourse with his wife in a place other than the private part. He replied: If the woman experiences ejaculation, she should perform ghusl, and if she does not experience ejaculation, she should perform wudu, and she should wash the place where the man’s fluid has touched.
