Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 9331 — Those who said: the fasting person has
٩٣٣١ - حدثنا أبو (الأحوص) (١) عن أبي إسحاق عن الحارث عن علي قال: إذا أصبحت وأنت تريد الصوم فأنت بالخيار إن شئت صمت وإن شئت أفطرت، إلا أن تفرض على نفسك الصوم من الليل (٢).
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When you begin the morning intending to fast, you have a choice: if you wish, fast, and if you wish, do not fast. But if you made the fast obligatory upon yourself during the night, then fasting is now necessary.
