Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 40521 — Reports on Uthman (may Allah be)

Sayyiduna Abu Barzah al-Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) were with him on a journey. They heard the sound of singing and turned towards the sound. A man got up and went to find out about the sound; this was before the prohibition of wine. He reached them, came back, and said: "These are so-and-so and so-and-so. They are both singing, each answering the other, saying that the bones of my devoted companion will keep lying there gleaming, for fierce war will prevent him from being buried and having a grave made for him." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his hands and prayed: "O Allah, plunge them both into a trial. O Allah, thrust them into the Fire."
