Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 37745 — The words of Ubayd bin Umayr

It is narrated from Ubayd bin Umayr that he said: When Allah Almighty intended to destroy the People of the Elephant, He sent against them birds brought forth from the sea, resembling swallows. Each one of these birds carried three stones of white and black: two stones in its claws and one stone in its beak. He (may Allah have mercy on him) said: So these birds came until they formed rows above the heads of the People of the Elephant, then they cried out and dropped the stones that were in their beaks and claws. Every stone that struck a man's head came out through his rear, and on whatever part of the body it fell, it came out through the other side. The narrator said: And Allah Almighty sent a violent wind which struck the stones, and it increased their force even further, and so all of those people were destroyed.
