Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 25521 — The explanation of the vessels

Abu al-Harith al-Taymi reports from Sayyidah Umm Ma'bad (may Allah be pleased with her); he said: I asked: What did he (peace and blessings be upon him) say about these vessels? She replied: You have come to one who is well informed (that is, you have asked someone who knows). As for hanatim, they are the hanatim of the non-Arabs, vessels that a man would enter and clean out: vessels for wine. And dubba' is the gourd (made into a vessel). And muzaffat is the waterskin that has tar on the inside and whose outside is also coloured with tar: vessels for wine. And naqir is the trunk of a tree whose roots remain in the ground, and which is hollowed out and made into a vessel.
