Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 25331 — Those who declared intoxicants

It is narrated from Ibn Sirin that a man said to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): Our household prepare a drink of nabidh for themselves in the morning which they drink in the evening, and they prepare a drink of nabidh in the evening and drink it in the morning. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I forbid you from what intoxicates, whether it is little or much. And I call Allah to witness against you, and say, that the people of Khaybar used to make nabidh for themselves from such and such a thing and call it by such and such a name, and in reality this thing was khamr. And the people of Fadak used to make nabidh from such and such a thing and call it by such and such a name, and in reality this thing was khamr. (In this way) he listed four drinks, one of which was honey.
