Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 24521 — The reward for giving respite to one

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man from a nation before you was brought to account, and he had no good deed except that he was a wealthy man who had dealings with people, and he had told his subordinates: 'Overlook (forgive) the one in hardship, give him respite.' Allah Almighty said to the angels: 'I am more entitled to this; overlook him.' (Let him go.)"
