Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 2239 — A man calling the adhan while sitting

٢٢٣٩ - حدثنا عمر بن هارون عن (ابن جريج) (١) عن عطاء] (٢) قال: قلت له: يؤذن الرجل وهو قاعد؟ قال: (لا) (٣)، إلا من علة، قلت: فمن نعاس أو كسل؟ قال: لا.

Ibn Jurayj said: I asked Ata: May a man give the adhan while seated? He said: No, but if there is an excuse, it is permissible. I asked: Because of drowsiness or laziness? He said: No.
