Mukhtasar Muslim (Abridged) 1484 — On plague; do not enter or flee

Narrated by Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with them both) from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): He (peace be upon him) said: This disease (plague) is a punishment that afflicted a nation before you. Then it remained in the land. Sometimes it goes away, sometimes it returns. Therefore, if anyone hears that there is plague in a country, he should not go there, and if plague appears in his own country, he should not flee from it.
