حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ، وَالْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ آدَمَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الزُّهْرِيُّ، ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، عَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنِ الشَّمُوسِ بِنْتِ النُّعْمَانِ، قَالَتْ: رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُؤَسِّسُ مَسْجِدَ قِبَاءَ فَرُبَّمَا رَأَيْتُهُ يَحْمِلُ الْحَجَرَ الْعَظِيمَ فَيَنْهَرُهُ إِلَى بَطْنِهِ، فَنَأْتِي لِنَأْخُذَهُ مِنْهُ فَيَقُولُ: «دَعْهُ، وَاحْمِلْ غَيْرَهُ» وَجِبْرِيلُ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَؤُمُّ بِهِ الْكَعْبَةَ
Sayyidah al-Shamus bint al-Nu'man (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) laying the foundation of the Quba Mosque. Sometimes I would see him carrying a heavy stone, pressing it against his stomach, and we would come to take the stone from him, but he would say: "Leave it, and carry another." And Jibril (peace be upon him) was guiding him toward the Ka'bah.
حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ، ثنا شَبَابَةُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ، ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَارِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي سُوَيْدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، عَنِ الشَّمُوسِ بِنْتِ النُّعْمَانِ، قَالَتْ: نَظَرْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ قَدِمَ، وَنَزَلَ وَأَسَّسَ هَذَا الْمَسْجِدَ، مَسْجِدَ قِبَاءَ، فَرَأَيْتُهُ يَأْخُذُ الْحَجَرَ - أَوِ الصَّخْرَةَ - حَتَّى يَصْهَرَهُ الْحَجَرُ، وَأَنْظُرُ إِلَى بَيَاضِ التُّرَابِ عَلَى بَطْنِهِ وَسُرَّتِهِ، فَيَأْتِي الرَّجُلُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ وَيَقُولُ: بِأَبِي وَأُمِّي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَعْطِنِي أَكْفِكَ، فَيَقُولُ: «لَا خُذْ حَجَرًا مِثْلَهُ» حَتَّى أَسَّسَهُ وَيَقُولُ: «إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ هُوَ يَؤُمُّ الْكَعْبَةَ» قَالَتْ: " فَكَانَ يُقَالُ: إِنَّهُ أَقُومُ مَسْجِدٍ قِبْلَةً "
Sayyidah al-Shamus bint al-Nu'man (may Allah be pleased with her) said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived, halted and laid the foundation of this mosque, that is, the Quba Mosque, I was watching him. I saw that he would carry a stone or a rock until the stone (its weight) bent him over, and I would see the whiteness of the dust on his stomach and navel. A man from among his Companions would come and say: "May my father and mother be ransomed for you, O Messenger of Allah! Give it to me, let me take it off your hands." But he (peace and blessings be upon him) would say: "No, take another stone like it," until he had completed the foundation. And he would say: "It is Jibril (peace be upon him) who is guiding toward the Ka'bah." So it used to be said that it is the most accurate of mosques in the direction of its qiblah.
