Hadith 20904

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، قَالَا: أَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، عَنْ جُدَامَةَ بِنْتِ وَهْبٍ الْأَسَدِيَّةِ، قَالَتْ: أَخْبَرَتْنِي أَنَّهَا: سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ أَنْهَى عَنِ الْغَيلَةِ حَتَّى ذَكَرْتُ أَنَّ فَارِسَ، وَالرُّومَ يَصْنَعُونَ ذَلِكَ فَلَا يَضُرُّ أَوْلَادَهُمْ»

It is narrated from Sayyidah Judamah bint Wahb al-Asadiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "I intended to forbid ghilah (a nursing woman becoming pregnant), until I remembered that the Persians and the Romans do that and it does not harm their children."

Hadith 20905

حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمُقْرِئُ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، عَنْ جُذَامَةَ بِنْتِ وَهْبٍ، قَالَتْ: حَضَرْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي نَاسٍ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: " لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ أَنْهَى عَنِ الْغَيلَةِ فَنَظَرْتُ فِي فَارِسَ، وَالرُّومَ فَإِذَا هُمْ يُغِيلُونَ أَوْلَادَهُمْ فَلَا يَضُرُّ أَوْلَادَهُمْ شَيْئًا، ثُمَّ سَأَلُوهُ عَنِ الْعَزْلِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ذَاكَ الْوَأْدُ الْخَفِيُّ، وَهُوَ (إِذَا الْمَوْءُودَةُ سُئِلَتْ) "

Sayyidah Judhamah bint Wahb (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I was present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) among some people, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying: "I intended to forbid ghilah, then I looked at the Persians and the Romans, and they practise ghilah with their children, yet it does not harm their children at all." Then the people asked him (peace and blessings be upon him) about coitus interruptus ('azl), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That is the concealed wa'd (burying alive), and it is what is (mentioned in the saying of Allah Almighty): And when the girl buried alive is asked [Surah al-Takwir: 8]."

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ طَارِقٍ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، عَنْ جُدَامَةَ بِنْتِ وَهْبٍ الْأَسَدِيَّةِ، قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَنْهَى عَنِ الْغِيَالِ فَإِذَا فَارِسُ، وَالرُّومُ يُغِيلُونَ أَوْلَادَهُمْ، وَلَا يَضُرُّهُمْ شَيْئًا»

Sayyidah Judamah bint Wahb al-Asadiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "I intended to forbid ghilah, but I saw that the Persians and the Romans practise ghilah with their children, and it does not harm them at all."
