حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ: لَبِسْتُ قِلَادَةً فِيهَا شَعَرَاتٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، فَرَآنِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَكَرِهَهَا فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي فَنَزَعْتُهَا، فَقَالَ: «مَا يُؤْمِنُكِ أَنْ يُقَلِّدَكِ اللهُ مَكَانَهَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ شَعَرَاتٍ مِنْ نَارٍ»
Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I put on a necklace in which there were threads of gold. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw me and disliked it, and turned away from me, so I took it off. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What makes you feel safe that Allah Almighty will not, on the Day of Resurrection, put on you in its place a necklace of threads of fire?"
حَدَّثَنَا الْخَلَّالُ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي عُتْبَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ: دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَيَّ شَعَرَاتٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلَا تَنْظُرُ إِلَى زِينَتِي، فَقَالَ: «عَنْهَا أُعْرِضُ» ، فَقَطَعْتُهَا، فَأَقْبَلَ إِلَيَّ بِوَجْهِهِ
Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came in while I was wearing threads of gold, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) turned away from me. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Will you not look at my adornment? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is from that very thing that I am turning away." So I cut it off, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) turned his face towards me.
حَدَّثَنَا الْخَلَّالُ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، ثنا حَاتِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَفْرِضُ الصِّيَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ، ثُمَّ يُصْبِحُ فَيَقُولُ: «هَلْ عِنْدَكُمْ شَيْءٌ؟» ، فَنَقُولُ: مَا عِنْدَنَا شَيْءٌ أَلَسْتَ صَائِمًا؟
Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would make the intention to fast during the night, then in the morning he would say: "Do you have anything (to eat)?" We would say: We have nothing; are you not fasting?
