حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَتْنِي زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ: سَمِعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَلَبَ خُصُومَةٍ عِنْدَ بَابِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ: «إِنَّكُمْ تَخْتَصِمُونَ إِلَيَّ، وَإِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ، وَلَعَلَّ بَعْضَكُمْ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَعْلَمَ بِحُجَّتِهِ مِنْ بَعْضٍ، فَأَقْضِي لَهُ بِمَا أَسْمَعُ، وَأَظُنُّهُ صَادِقًا، فَمَنْ قَضَيْتُ لَهُ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ حَقِّ أَخِيهِ، فَإِنَّهَا قِطْعَةٌ مِنَ النَّارِ، فَلْيَأْخُذْهَا أَوْ لِيَدَعْهَا» .
Sayyidah Zaynab bint Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with them both) relates from her mother, Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard the noise of a dispute at the door of Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), so he (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to them and said: "You bring your disputes to me, yet I am only a human being. Perhaps one of you is more eloquent in presenting his argument than another, and I judge in his favour according to what I hear, thinking him truthful. So whoever I judge in favour of with something of his brother's right, it is a piece of the Fire; let him take it or leave it."
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْخَلَّالُ الْمَكِّيُّ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى التَّيْمِيُّ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، أَنَّ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَمِعَ جَلَبَةَ خُصُومٍ بِبَابِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِمْ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ
Sayyidah Zaynab bint Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with them both) relates from her mother, Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard the noise of disputing people at the door of Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), so he (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to them, and then said the same.
