It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I saw some freed people of Abu Jahl in Paradise." Then, when Sayyiduna Ikrimah (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is that (person)."

Abdullah, the brother of Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), narrates: I heard Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) say: In the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) set out for Busra for the purpose of trade. His keenness for his share in travelling for trade did not keep Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) from his (heartfelt) attachment to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); that was because they liked the earnings of trade and loved trade. And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) too, despite his love for his company and his attachment to him, did not stop Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) from travelling for his trade, even though he (peace and blessings be upon him) greatly cherished his company, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) considered trade good and liked it.
