حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سَالِمَ بْنَ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ: «لَا يَصُومُ شَهْرًا كَامِلًا، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَصُومُ شَعْبَانَ وَيَصِلُهُ بِرَمَضَانَ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) never fasted a complete month, except that he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fast Sha'ban and join it to Ramadan.
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ، ثنا قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، وَأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتَا: «مَا كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصُومُ شَهْرًا سِوَى رَمَضَانَ إِلَّا شَعْبَانَ، فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يَصِلُهُ بِرَمَضَانَ، فَيَكُونُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ، وَكَانَ يَصُومُ الشَّهْرَ حَتَّى نَقُولَ لَا يُفْطِرُ وَيُفْطِرُ حَتَّى نَقُولَ لَا يَصُومُ»
Sayyidah Aishah and Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with them both) both said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not fast any month other than Ramadan except Sha'ban, for he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to join it to Ramadan, and so they would become two consecutive months. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) would sometimes fast so much that we would say he will not stop fasting, and sometimes refrain so much that we would say he will not fast."
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ، ثنا يَحْيَى، ثنا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ: «يَصُومُ شَعْبَانَ وَرَمَضَانَ» .
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fast Sha'ban and Ramadan.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي هَوْذَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي قَيْسٍ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، نَحْوَهُ
A similar hadith is also narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her).
