Asma bint Wathilah (may Allah have mercy on her) narrates that when her father had prayed the Fajr prayer, he would sit facing the qiblah and would not speak until the sun rose. Sometimes I would say something to him about some need, and he would not speak to me. I asked: "What is this?" He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever prays the Fajr prayer, then recites Surah al-Ikhlas a hundred times before he speaks, then each time he recites Surah al-Ikhlas, the sins of one year will be forgiven for him."
