حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، ثنا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْمُؤْمِنِ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ الدُّؤَلِيِّ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِمُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَنْ قِصَّةِ الشَّيْطَانِ حِينَ أَخَذْتَهُ، فَقَالَ: «جَعَلَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى صَدَقَةِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَجَعَلْتُهُ فِي غَرْفَةٍ» . فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ
Abu al-Aswad al-Du'ali (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I said to Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him): "Tell me the story of the devil when you caught him." He said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) put me in charge of the charity (sadaqah) of the Muslims, and I placed it in a small room." Then the narrator mentioned the whole hadith.
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا غُنْدَرٌ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَعْمَرَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ الدُّؤَلِيِّ قَالَ: كَانَ مُعَاذٌ بِالْيَمَنِ فَارْتَفَعُوا إِلَيْهِ فِي يَهُودِيٍّ مَاتَ وَتَرَكَ أَخَاهُ مُسْلِمًا؟ فَقَالَ مُعَاذٌ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «الْإِسْلَامُ يَزِيدُ وَلَا يَنْقُصُ فَوَرَّثَهُ»
Abu al-Aswad al-Du'ali (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) was in Yemen, and people came to him about a Jew who had died and left behind a Muslim brother. Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Islam increases and does not decrease." So he made him an heir.
حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ حَمْدَوَيْهِ الصَّفَّارُ، ثنا عَفَّانُ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَعْمَرَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ الدُّؤَلِيِّ، قَالَ: مَاتَ رَجُلٌ مِنَّا يَهُودِيًّا - أَوْ نَصْرَانِيًّا - وَتَرَكَ ابْنًا مُسْلِمًا، فَرَفَعَ ذَلِكَ إِلَى مُعَاذٍ فَوَرَّثَهُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «الْإِسْلَامُ يَزِيدُ وَلَا يَنْقُصُ»
Abu al-Aswad al-Du'ali (may Allah have mercy on him) said: A man from among us, who was a Jew - or a Christian - died and left behind a Muslim son. The matter was taken to Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him), and he made him an heir. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Islam increases and does not decrease."
حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ السَّامِيُّ، ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ كُرْدِيٍّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَعْمَرَ، أَنَّ مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ، كَانَ يُوَرِّثُ الْمُسْلِمَ مِنَ الذِّمِّيِّ، وَلَا يُوَرِّثُ الذِّمِّيَّ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِ، وَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «إِنَّ الْإِسْلَامَ يَزِيدُ وَلَا يَنْقُصُ» قَالَ الشَّيْخُ: «عَمْرُو بْنُ كُرْدِيٍّ هُوَ عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي حَكِيمٍ الَّذِي رَوَى عَنْهُ شُعْبَةُ»
It is narrated from Yahya bin Ya'mar (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) used to make the Muslim an heir of the dhimmi, but did not make the dhimmi an heir of the Muslim, and he would say: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Indeed, Islam increases and does not decrease." The Shaykh (the author, Imam al-Tabarani) said: "Amr bin Kurdi is the same as Amr bin Abi Hakim, from whom Shu'bah narrated."
