It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) that he described to them the ablution (wudu) of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): that he (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped his head in such a way that water began to drip from his head, or nearly dripped. And when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reached the wiping of the head, he placed both his palms on the front of his head, then moved them back until he reached the nape of the neck, then brought them back to the same place from where he had begun.

Abu al-Azhar (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up at Dayr Mishal, which is at the gate of Hims, and said: Listen! The fast begins on such-and-such a day, and we are starting (the fast) early, tomorrow. At this, Sayyiduna Malik bin Hubayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up before him and said: O Mu'awiyah! Is this your own opinion, or something you heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Fast the month, and also its sirr (that is, its middle white days)."
