حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ ثَوْرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ رَاشِدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «إِنَّكَ إِنِ اتَّبَعْتَ عَوْرَاتِ النَّاسِ أَفْسَدْتَهُمْ أَوْ كِدْتَ أَنْ تُفْسِدَهُمْ» ، قَالَ: يَقُولُ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ: كَلِمَةٌ سَمِعَهَا مُعَاوِيَةُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، نَفَعَهُ اللهُ بِهَا "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "If you pursue people's faults, you will corrupt them, or nearly corrupt them." The narrator says: Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: This is a word that Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and Allah benefited him through it.
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْعَلَاءِ الْحِمْصِيُّ، ثنا جَدِّي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ الْحِمْصِيُّ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ حَرِيزِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ رَاشِدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ الْمَقْرَائِيِّ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُعَلِّمُ النَّاسَ التَّشَهُّدَ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلَّهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عَبَّادِ اللهِ الصَّالِحِينَ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ»
Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) used to stand on the pulpit and teach the people the tashahhud as narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "All verbal, physical and financial acts of worship are for Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no true god except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His servant and His Messenger."
