حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ حَدَّثَهُ، عَنْ أبِيهِ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عِيَاضٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «إِنَّ» لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ فِتْنَةٌ، وَإِنَّ فِتْنَةَ أُمَّتِي الْمَالُ "
Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Iyad al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "For every nation there is a trial, and the trial of my nation is wealth."
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ دُحَيْمٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْإِسْكَنْدَرَانِيُّ، ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أبِي الزَّاهِرِيَّةِ، عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عِيَاضٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: " الْقِصَاصُ ثَلَاثَةٌ: أَمِيرٌ أَوْ مَأْمُورٌ أَوْ مُخْتَالٌ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Iyad al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Storytellers (preachers) are only of three kinds: a ruler, or one appointed (by the ruler), or an arrogant person."
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْبَاقِي، ثنا الْمُسَيَّبُ بْنُ وَاضِحٍ، ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ثنا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ، عَنْ أبِيهِ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عِيَاضٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «لَوْ سُئِلَ لِابْنِ آدَمَ وَادِيَانِ مِنْ مَالٍ لَتَمَنَّى إِلَيْهِمَا ثَالِثًا، وَلَا يُشْبِعُ ابْنَ آدَمَ إِلَّا التُّرَابُ، وَيَتُوبُ اللهُ عَلَى مَنْ تَابَ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Iyad al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If the son of Adam were given two valleys of wealth, he would wish for a third as well; nothing fills the belly of the son of Adam except dust; and Allah forgives whoever repents."
