حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّوَاسِبِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ: قِيلَ لِقُثَمَ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ: كَيْفَ وَرِثَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلِيٌّ دُونَ الْعَبَّاسِ؟، قَالَ: «لِأَنَّهُ كَانَ أَوَّلَنَا بِهِ لُحُوقًا وَأَشَدَّنَا بِهِ لُزُوقًا»
Abu Ishaq narrated that Sayyiduna Qutham bin al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was asked: "Why did Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) inherit from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) rather than al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him)?" He said: "Because he was the first of us to join him (peace and blessings be upon him) and the one who stayed closest to him (peace and blessings be upon him)."
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُعَافَى بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ثنا زُهَيْرٌ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ: قِيلَ لِقُثَمَ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ: كَيْفَ وَرِثَ عَلِيٌّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دُونَكُمْ؟، قَالَ: «إِنَّهُ كَانَ أَوَّلَنَا بِهِ لُحُوقًا وَأَشَدَّنَا بِهِ لُزُوقًا»
Abu Ishaq narrated that Sayyiduna Qutham bin al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was asked: "How did Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) inherit from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) rather than all of you?" He said: "Indeed, he was the first to join him (peace and blessings be upon him) and the one who stayed closest to him (peace and blessings be upon him)."
