حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عِنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، وَعَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ قَالَ: كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ، فَنَزَلْنَا لَيْلَةً فَقُمْتُ أَطْلُبُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَلَمْ أَجِدْهُ وَوَجَدْتُ مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ وَأَبَا مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيَّ فَقَالَا: مَا حَاجَتُكَ؟ قُلْتُ: أَيْنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَا: مَا نَدْرِي فَبَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ إِذْ سَمِعْنَا فِي أَعْلَى الْوَادِي هَزِيرًا كَهَزِيرِ الرَّحَى، فَلَمْ يَلْبَثْ أَنْ جَاءَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَقَدْنَاكَ اللَّيْلَةَ، فَقَالَ: «أَتَانِي آتٍ مِنْ رَبِّي فَخَيَّرَنِي بَيْنَ أَنْ تَكُونَ أُمَّتِي شَطْرَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ وَبَيْنَ الشَّفَاعَةِ فَاخْتَرْتُ الشَّفَاعَةَ» فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، ادْعُ اللهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنَا مِنْ أَهْلِ الشَّفَاعَةِ فَقَالَ: «اللهُمَّ اجْعَلْنَا مِنْ أَهْلِهَا، ثُمَّ أَتَيْنَا الْقَوْمَ فَأَخْبَرْنَاهُمْ» فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، ادْعُ اللهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنَا مِنْ أَهْلِ شَفَاعَتِكَ فَقَالَ: «اللهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُمْ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا» ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ شَفَاعَتِي لِمَنْ مَاتَ لَا يُشْرِكُ بِاللهِ شَيْئًا»
Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik al-Ashja'i (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey. One night we halted, and I got up to look for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I did not find him (peace and blessings be upon him), but I found Mu'adh bin Jabal and Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with them both). They asked: What do you need? I said: Where is the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? They said: We did not know. While we were in that state, we heard from the upper part of the valley a sound like that of a millstone. A little while later the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived, and we said: O Messenger of Allah, we could not find you tonight. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "One came to me from my Lord and gave me the choice between my Ummah being half of the people of Paradise, or being granted intercession, and I chose intercession." We said: O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to make us among the people of intercession. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah, make us among them." Then we went to the people and told them, and they said: O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to make us among the people of your intercession. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah, make them among them too." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "My intercession is for the one who dies without associating anything with Allah."
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ الشِّيرَازِيُّ، ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ نُصَيْرٍ، ثنا هِشَامُ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ
A similar hadith is also narrated from Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، وَخَالِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «شَفَاعَتِي لِمَنْ مَاتَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي لَا يُشْرِكُ بِاللهِ شَيْئًا»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "My intercession is for whoever of my Ummah dies without associating anything with Allah."
