Hisham bin Abi Ruqayyah al-Lakhmi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: I heard Maslamah bin Mukhallad, while he was sitting on the pulpit, saying: O people! Is there not enough for you in gold and linen (garments) to make you free of need, while this man (Uqbah) is among you, informing (you) from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? Stand up, O Uqbah. So Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up, and I was listening, and he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever deliberately tells a lie against me, let him take his seat in the Fire." And I bear witness that I also heard him (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever wears silk in this world will be deprived of wearing it in the Hereafter."
