It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed him to collect charity (sadaqah), he said: "Look, O Abu Mas'ud! Let me not find you coming on the Day of Resurrection with a camel from the charity camels on your back, groaning, which you had stolen." He said: "Then I will not go on this task." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then I will not compel you."
