حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، ثنا مِسْعَرٌ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ الْحَنَفِيِّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ: «لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ أَوَّلُ الْمُزَّمِّلِ كَانَ قِيَامُهُمْ مِثْلَ قِيَامِهِمْ فِي رَمَضَانَ أَوْ نَحْوَ قِيَامِهِمْ فِي رَمَضَانَ، وَكَانَ بَيْنَ أَوَّلِهَا، وَآخِرِهَا سَنَةٌ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: "When the opening verses of Surah al-Muzzammil were revealed, the people's standing in prayer at night was like their standing in Ramadan, or nearly like it, and between the revelation of the beginning of the surah and its end there was an interval of one year."
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، ثنا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، ثنا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي زُمَيْلٍ الْحَنَفِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: «رَأَيْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بُرْدًا مِنْ أَحْسَنِ الْيُمْنَةِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: "I saw upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) a cloak of the finest Yemeni cloth."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَابَانَ الْجُنْدِيسَابُورِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ لُوَيْنٌ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ أَبِي زُمَيْلٍ الْحَنَفِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُهُ، يَقُولُ: أَصَابَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ غَنَائِمَ فَقَسَمَ لِلنَّاسٍ، فَقَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ: نَلِي الْقِتَالَ، وَالْغَنَائِمُ لِغَيْرِنَا , فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَبَعَثَ إِلَيْهِمْ أَنِ اجْتَمَعُوا فَأَتَاهُمٌ، فَقَالَ: «يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ هَلْ فِيكُمْ أَحَدٌ مِنْ غَيْرِكُمْ؟» ، قَالُوا: لَا إِلَّا ابْنُ أُخْتٍ لَنَا، وَمَوْلًى لَنَا، فَقَالَ: «ابْنُ أُخْتِ الْقَوْمِ مِنْهُمْ، وَمَوْلَى الْقَوْمِ مِنْهُمْ» قَالَ: «يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَمَا تَرْضَوْنَ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ النَّاسُ بِالشَّاءِ، وَالْبَقَرِ، وَتَذْهَبُونَ أَنْتُمْ بِمُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟» قَالُوا: قَدْ رَضِينَا
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) acquired spoils of war on the day of Hunayn and distributed them among the people. The Ansar said: We do the fighting and the spoils go to others. This reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so he (peace and blessings be upon him) sent word to them to gather. Then he came to them and said: "O company of the Ansar, is there anyone among you who is not one of you?" They said: No, except a son of one of our sisters and a client (mawla) of ours. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The son of a people's sister is one of them, and the client of a people is one of them." Then he said: "O company of the Ansar, are you not pleased that the people should go away with sheep and cattle, while you go away with Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)?" They said: We are pleased.
حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ، ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، قَالُوا: ثنا عَبْدُ رَبِّهِ بْنُ بَارِقٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي سِمَاكٌ الْحَنَفِيُّ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «مَنْ مَاتَ لَهُ فَرَطَانِ مِنْ أُمَّتِي أَدْخَلَهُ اللهُ الْجَنَّةَ» ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: وَمَنْ مَاتْ لَهُ فَرَطٌ؟ قَالَ: «وَمَنْ مَاتَ لَهُ فَرَطٌ يَا مُوَفَّقَةُ» ، قَالَتْ: فَمَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ فَرَطٌ؟ قَالَ: «فَأَنَا فَرَطُ أُمَّتِي لَمْ يُصَابُوا بِمِثْلِي»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever from my Ummah has two children who died before him, Allah will admit him into Paradise." Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: And whoever has one child who died before him? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And whoever has even one child who died before him, O muwaffaqah (you who are guided to say what is right)." She said: And whoever has no child who died before him? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then I am the forerunner of my Ummah; they will never be afflicted with a loss like the loss of me."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجَذُوعِيُّ الْقَاضِي، ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ، ثنا النَّضْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجُرَشِيُّ، ثنا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، ثنا أَبُو زُمَيْلٍ، ثنا ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: «اسْتَسْقَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَمُطِرَ النَّاسُ حَتَّى سَالَتْ قَنَاةٌ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا» فَأَصْبَحَ النَّاسُ يَقُولُونُ: " لَقَدْ صَدَقَ نَوْءُ كَذَا وَكَذَا، وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَقُولُ: هَذِهِ رَحْمَةٌ وَضَعَهَا اللهُ "
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed for rain, and the people received so much rain that the valley of Qanat flowed for forty days." Then in the morning the people began saying: Such-and-such star has proved true; and some of them said: This is a mercy from Allah which He has sent down.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَمَّالُ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، ثنا حَمْدَانُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ السُّلَمِيُّ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجَذُوعِيُّ الْقَاضِي، ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا النَّضْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجُرَشِيُّ، ثنا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، ثنا أَبُو زُمَيْلٍ، ثنا ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: مُطِرَ النَّاسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَصْبَحَ مِنَ النَّاسِ شَاكِرٌ، وَمِنْهُمْ كَافِرٌ قَالُوا: هَذِهِ رَحْمَةٌ وَضَعَهَا اللهُ، وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: لَقَدْ صَدَقَ نَوْءُ كَذَا، وَكَذَا " فَأُنْزِلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ: {فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَاقِعِ النُّجُومِ} [الواقعة: ٧٥] حَتَّى {تَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ} [الواقعة: ٨٢]
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The people received rain in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Some of the people have entered the morning grateful and some of them ungrateful. (The grateful ones) said: This is a mercy from Allah which He has sent down; and some of them said: Such-and-such star has proved true." Thereupon this verse was revealed: "So I swear by the positions of the stars" [Surah al-Waqi'ah: 75] up to His words: "And you make your provision that you deny it" [Surah al-Waqi'ah: 82].
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَمَّالُ، ثنا حَمْدَانُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ السُّلَمِيُّ، ثنا النَّضْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ثنا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، ثنا أَبُو زُمَيْلٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ يَقُولُونُ: لَبَّيْكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ، فَيَقُولُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «وَيْلَكُمْ قَدْ قَدْ» ، فَيَقُولُونَ: إِلَّا شَرِيكًا هُوَ لَكَ تَمْلِكُهُ وَمَا مَلَكَ، يَقُولُونَ هَذَا وَهُمْ يَطُوفُونَ بِالْبَيْتِ
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When saying the talbiyah, the polytheists used to say: "Labbayk, You have no partner," and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would say: "Woe to you, enough, enough!" But they would go on to say: "Except a partner who belongs to You; You own him and whatever he owns." They used to say this while circling the House (the Ka'bah).
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَمَّالُ، ثنا حَمْدَانُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ السُّلَمِيُّ، ثنا النَّضْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجُرَشِيُّ، ثنا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو زُمَيْلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: «لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحْسَنَ مَا يَكُونُ مِنَ الثِّيَابِ الْيَمَنِيَّةِ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: "I saw upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) the finest of Yemeni garments."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجَذُوعِيُّ، ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ، ثنا النَّضْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجُرَشِيُّ، ثنا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، ثنا أَبُو زُمَيْلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ النَّاسُ لَا يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَى أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، وَلَا يُقَاعِدُونَهُ فَقَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ثَلَاثٌ أُعْطِيكَهُنَّ، قَالَ: «نَعَمْ» ، قَالَ: عِنْدِي أَحْسَنُ الْعَرَبِ، وَأَجْمَلُهُ أُمُّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ أُزَوِّجُكَهَا، قَالَ: «نَعَمْ» ، قَالَ: وَمُعَاوِيَةُ تَجْعَلُهُ كَاتِبًا تَجْعَلُهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ. قَالَ: «نَعَمْ» ، قَالَ: وَتُؤَمِّرُنِي أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ الْكُفَّارَ كَمَا كُنْتُ أُقَاتِلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، قَالَ: «نَعَمْ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The people would not look at Sayyiduna Abu Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) nor sit with him, so he said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): There are three things I wish to give you. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." He said: I have the most beautiful and most handsome woman of the Arabs, Umm Habibah bint Abi Sufyan; I will marry her to you. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." He said: And make Mu'awiyah your scribe, keeping him before you. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." He said: And appoint me to fight the disbelievers just as I used to fight the Muslims. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes."
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الرَّازِيُّ، ثنا عُمَرُ بْنُ خَلَفِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ مِرْسَالٍ الْخَثْعَمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي عَمِّي إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مِرْسَالٍ، عَنْ أَبِي زُمَيْلٍ الْحَنَفِيِّ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: " كَانَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ لَا يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَى أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَلَا يُفَاتِحُونَهُ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ثَلَاثٌ أُعْطِيكَهُنَّ: عِنْدِي أَحْسَنُ الْعَرَبِ وَأَجْمَلُهُ أُمُّ حَبِيبَةَ أُزَوِّجُكَهَا، قَالَ: «نَعَمْ» ، قَالَ: وَتَجْعَلُ مُعَاوِيَةَ كَاتِبًا بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ، قَالَ: «نَعَمْ» ، قَالَ: وَتُؤَمِّرُنِي أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ الْكُفَّارَ كَمَا كُنْتُ أُقَاتِلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، قَالَ: «نَعَمْ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Muslims would not look at Abu Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) nor speak with him, so he said: O Messenger of Allah, there are three things I wish to give you: I have the most beautiful and most handsome woman of the Arabs, Umm Habibah; I will marry her to you. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." He said: And make Mu'awiyah your scribe, keeping him before you. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." He said: And appoint me to fight the disbelievers just as I used to fight the Muslims. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes."
