Sayyiduna Suraqah bin Malik bin Ju'shum al-Mudliji (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Messenger of Allah! Do we act upon something that has already been completed, or do we begin the deed anew?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rather, upon a deed that has already been completed." He said: "O Messenger of Allah! Then what is the purpose of deeds?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For each one, his deed has been made easy." He said: "O Messenger of Allah! Now it is time for true effort, now it is time for effort."
