Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) seated me behind him on his mount many times, passed his hand over my head, and prayed for forgiveness for me and my descendants as many times as the fingers on my hand.

Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The milch she-camels of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) were plundered, and I kept shooting arrows at them (the raiders) until the horsemen from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reached me.

Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Amir bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him): "O Amir, dismount and let us hear some of your verses." So he dismounted and began reciting rajaz: "By Allah, were it not for Allah we would not have been guided, nor would we have given charity nor prayed; so send down tranquillity upon us, and make our feet firm if we meet (the enemy); indeed those people have transgressed against us." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "May your Lord have mercy on you." At this Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Prophet of Allah, may my father be ransomed for you, if only you had let us benefit from Ibn al-Akwa' longer. Then when we reached Khaybar the next morning, what happened to Amir was that his own sword turned back on him and he was martyred by it, and the people said: Amir killed himself. So Sayyiduna Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Amir's death came about when his own sword turned back on him and he was martyred by it, so do the people claim that he killed himself? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They have lied. By the One in whose hand is my soul, it is as though I see him in Paradise swimming as a small fish swims."
