Shaqiq bin Salamah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated: We went in to Salman (may Allah be pleased with him), and he set before us whatever was in the house and said: "Had the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) not forbidden us, or had we not been forbidden, that a man should go to trouble (takalluf) for his brother, I would certainly have gone to trouble for you."

Shaqiq bin Salamah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated: A companion of mine and I went to Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him), and Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Had the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) not forbidden us from going to trouble (takalluf), I would certainly have gone to trouble for you." Then he brought bread and meat. My companion said: If only there were some thyme (sa'tar, a fragrant herb) in our salt! So Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) sent his ablution vessel and had it pawned, then brought thyme. When we had eaten it, my companion said: All praise is for Allah, who has let us enjoy what He has provided us. Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Had you been content with what Allah had given you, my ablution vessel would not have been pawned."
