Abd al-Rahman bin Sabit said: Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) sent a message to Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Amir al-Jumahi (may Allah be pleased with him): "We wish to appoint you over these people; take them to the land of the enemy and wage jihad with them." Then he mentioned a long hadith, in which there was also this: Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I will not lag behind the first caravan, after I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say about the poor Muslims: 'They will be led (to Paradise) just as pigeons are led. It will be said to them: Stop for the reckoning. They will say: By Allah, we left nothing behind for which we could be reckoned. Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will say: My servants have spoken the truth. So they will enter Paradise seventy years before the rest of the people.'"

Ibn Sabit said: Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I will not lag behind the first caravan, after I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The poor Muslims will come on the Day of Resurrection upon their saddles, and it will be said to them: Stop for the reckoning. They will say: You gave us nothing for which you could hold us to account. So they will enter Paradise forty years before the rest of the people."

Abd al-Rahman bin Sabit narrates from Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Amir bin Hidhyam (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: It reached Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he did not store anything of his needs in his house, so he sent him ten thousand (dirhams). He took the money and began distributing it in purses. His wife asked: "Where are you going with this?" He said: "I am taking it to those who will bring us profit from it," and he kept only a little of it. When what they had ran out, his wife said: "Go to one of your companions to whom you gave the money, who are earning profit for you, and take some of their profits." He kept putting her off and delaying until the matter dragged on, then he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "If a hur of Paradise were to reveal one of her fingers, every living being would perceive her fragrance." So shall I leave them? Rather, by Allah, you (women) are more deserving that I leave you for their sake than that I leave them for yours.

Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Amir bin Hidhyam (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "If a woman of the people of Paradise were to look down upon the people of the earth, she would fill the earth with the fragrance of musk and would make the light of the sun and the moon fade." And by Allah, I am not one to prefer you over them. He said this addressing his wife, and he placed his hand on his wife's chest and pushed her back.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Amir al-Jumahi (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abu Bakr, come; O Umar, come. I have been commanded, through revelation sent down to me from heaven, to establish brotherhood between you two. You two are brothers in this world and brothers in Paradise, so let each of you greet his companion with salam and shake his hand." So Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) took hold of Umar's (may Allah be pleased with him) hand. At this the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled and said: "He will be before him; he will die before him." And he said: "O Zubayr, O Talhah, come. I have been commanded to establish brotherhood between you two. You two are brothers in this world and brothers in Paradise, so let each of you greet his companion with salam." So they did so. Then he said: "O Ali, come; O Ammar, come. I have been commanded to establish brotherhood between you two. You two are brothers in this world and brothers in Paradise, so let each of you greet his companion with salam." So they did so. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said the same to Ubayy bin Ka'b and Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them both), and they did so. Then he said the same to Abu al-Darda' and Salman (may Allah be pleased with them both), and they did so. Then he said the same to Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas and Suhayb (may Allah be pleased with them both), and they did so. Then he said the same to Abu Dharr and Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), the freed slave of al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah, and they did so. Then he said: "O Usamah, O Abu Hind, come" (Abu Hind was the one who used to cup the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and would drink his (peace and blessings be upon him) blood) "come," and he said the same to the two of them. Then he said the same to Abu Ayyub and Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with them both), and they did so. Then the narrator related the complete hadith.
