حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ السَّيْلَحِينِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ شِمَاسَةَ، أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، قَالَ: بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ حَوْلَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نُؤَلِّفُ الْقُرْآنَ مِنَ الرِّقَاعِ إِذَا قَالَ: «طُوبَى لِلشَّامِ» قِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَلِمَ ذَاكَ؟ قَالَ: «إِنَّ مَلَائِكَةَ الرَّحْمَنِ بَاسِطَةٌ أَجْنِحَتَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ»
Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) compiling the Qur'an from pieces of leather when he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Glad tidings for al-Sham (Syria)." It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, why is that?" He said: "Indeed the angels of the Most Merciful are spreading their wings over (the people of) al-Sham."
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْبَاعِ رَوْحُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ شِمَاسَةَ، يُخْبِرُ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ: كُنَّا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَكْتُبُ الْوَحْيَ فَقَالَ: «طُوبَى لِلشَّامِ» ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، فَقُلْنَا: وَمَا ذَاكَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ؟ فَقَالَ: «إِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ نَاشِرَةٌ أَجْنِحَتَهَا عَلَى الشَّامِ»
Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) writing down the revelation when he (peace and blessings be upon him) said three times: "Glad tidings for al-Sham." We said: "O Prophet of Allah, why is that?" He said: "Indeed the angels have spread their wings over al-Sham."
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ رِشْدِينَ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِمَاسَةَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ، يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ عَنْدَهُ: «طُوبَى لِلشَّامِ» فَقُلْنَا: مَا بَالُهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ: «إِنَّ الرَّحْمَنَ لَبَاسِطٌ رَحْمَتَهُ عَلَيْهِ»
Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Glad tidings for al-Sham." We said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is its matter?" He said: "Indeed the Most Merciful has spread His mercy over it."
