It is narrated from Sayyiduna Rabah al-Lakhmi (may Allah be pleased with him), the grandfather of Musa bin Ali, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "What has been born to you?" He said: O Messenger of Allah, what else could be born to me? It is either a boy or a girl. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then whom will it resemble?" He said: Whom else could it resemble? Either its mother or its father. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Stop! Do not say that. When the drop of fluid settles in the womb, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, brings before it every line of descent between it and Adam (peace be upon him). Have you not read this verse in the Book of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: 'In whatever form He willed, He assembled you' [Surah al-Infitar: 8]?"
