Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Amr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I used to throw stones at the palm trees of the Ansar while I was a boy, so the people seized me and brought me to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O boy, why do you throw stones at the palm trees?" I said: I want to eat. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not throw stones at the trees; rather, eat the dates that fall down below." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his hand over my head and said: "O Allah, fill his stomach."

Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was throwing stones at the palm trees of the Ansar, so the people seized me and took me to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: This one throws stones at our palm trees. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Rafi', why do you throw stones at their palm trees?" I said: O Messenger of Allah, I get hungry. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Eat what falls down; may Allah fill you and quench your thirst."

Abdullah bin al-Samit (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "After me there will be people from my Ummah who will recite the Qur'an, but it will not go beyond their throats. They will exit from the religion just as an arrow exits from the game, and then they will not return to it. They will be the worst of creation." Sulayman said: My strongest assumption is that he also said: "Their mark will be shaving the head." Ibn al-Samit said: Then I met Rafi' bin Amr, the brother of al-Hakam bin Amr al-Ghifari, and I said to him: I heard a hadith from Abu Dharr in which he says such and such - and I narrated this hadith to him. He said: "Why does this amaze you? I too heard it from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)."
