حَدَّثَنَا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ حَمْزَةَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ مَوْلَى غُفْرَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ الْقُرَظِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَوْ لَمْ تُذْنِبُوا لَجَاءَ اللهُ بِقَوْمٍ يُذْنِبُونَ وَيَغْفِرُ لَهُمْ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you did not commit sins, Allah would bring a people who would commit sins, and He would forgive them."
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْخَلَّالُ الْمَكِّيُّ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ الْقُرَظِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ خَالَفَ مَرْوَانَ بْنَ الْحَكَمِ فِي صَلَاتِهِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ مَرْوَانُ: مَا يَحْمِلُكَ عَلَى هَذَا؟ فَقَالَ: «إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي صَلَاةً إِنْ وَافَقْتَهُ وَافَقْتُكَ، وَإِنْ خَالَفْتَهُ صَلَّيْتُ وانْقَلَبْتُ إِلَى أَهْلِي»
Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) differed from Marwan bin al-Hakam in his prayer, so Marwan asked him: What leads you to do this? He said: "I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praying in a particular way; if you pray in accordance with it, I will follow you, and if you go against it, I will offer my own prayer and go back home to my family."
