حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، ثنا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ بِلَالٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ عِنْدِي تَمْرٌ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَوَجَدْتُ مَا هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِنْهُ صَاعًا بِصَاعَيْنِ، فَاشْتَرَيْتُهُ وَأَتَيْتُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: «مَا هَذَا؟» فَقُلْتُ: أَخَذْتُ صَاعًا بِصَاعَيْنِ، فَقَالَ: «رُدَّ عَلَيْنَا تَمْرَنَا»
Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I had some dates belonging to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and I found dates better than them at one sa' for two sa's. So I bought them and brought them to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What is this?" I said: I took one sa' for two sa's. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Return our dates to us."
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقِ بْنِ الْأَجْدَعِ، عَنْ بِلَالٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَطْعِمْنَا يَا بِلَالُ تَمْرًا» فَقَبَضْتُ لَهُ قَبَضَاتٍ، فَقَالَ: «زِدْنَا يَا بِلَالُ» فَزِدْتُهُ ثَلَاثًا، فَقُلْتُ: لَمْ يَبْقَ شَيْءٌ إِلَّا شَيْءٌ ادَّخَرْتُهُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: «أَنْفِقْ يَا بِلَالُ وَلَا تَخْشَ مِنْ ذِي الْعَرْشِ إِقْلَالًا»
Masruq bin al-Ajda' narrates from Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him); Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Bilal, feed us some dates." So I gave him a few handfuls. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Give us more, O Bilal." So I gave him three more. I said: Nothing is left except what I have saved for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Spend, O Bilal, and do not fear any scarcity from the Owner of the Throne."
