حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ السَّيْلَحِينِيُّ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْبَاعِ رَوْحُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ بَدْرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنَّا، يُقَالُ لَهُ: الْأَسْلَعُ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ أَخْدُمُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَرْحَلُ لَهُ، فَقَالَ لِي ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ: «يَا أَسْلَعُ، قُمْ فَارْحَلْ» فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَصَابَتْنِي جَنَابَةٌ، قَالَ: فَسَكَتَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَتَاهُ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ بِآيَةِ الصَّعِيدِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «قُمْ يَا أَسْلَعُ فَتَيَمَّمْ» قَالَ: فَقُمْتُ، فَتَيَمَّمْتُ، ثُمَّ رَحَلْتُ لَهُ، فَسَارَ حَتَّى مَرَّ بِمَاءٍ، فَقَالَ لِي: «يَا أَسْلَعُ مِسَّ - أَوْ أَمِسَّ - هَذَا جِلْدَكَ» ، قَالَ: وَأَرَانِي أَبِي التَّيَمُّمَ كَمَا أَرَاهُ أَبُوهُ: «ضَرْبَةٌ لِلْوَجْهِ، وَضَرْبَةٌ لِلْيَدَيْنِ إِلَى الْمِرْفَقَيْنِ»
Sayyiduna al-Asla' (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I used to serve the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and saddle his mount for him. One night he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "O Asla', get up and saddle the mount." I said: O Messenger of Allah, I am in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah). He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) fell silent, then Jibril (peace be upon him) came with the verse of tayammum, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Asla', get up and perform tayammum." I got up and performed tayammum, then saddled the mount for him (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) travelled on until he passed by some water, and he said to me: "O Asla', let this water touch your body." He said: And my father showed me tayammum just as his father had shown him: one strike for the face, and one strike for the two hands up to the elbows.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، وَالْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ، ثنا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ بَدْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَنِ الْأَسْلَعِ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي الْأَعْرَجِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ أَخْدُمُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ لِي: «يَا أَسْلَعُ، قُمْ أَرِنِي كَيْفَ كَذَا وَكَذَا؟» قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَصَابَتْنِي جَنَابَةٌ، فَسَكَتَ عَنِّي سَاعَةً، حَتَّى جَاءَهُ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ بِالصَّعِيدِ التَّيَمُّمِ، قَالَ: «قُمْ يَا أَسْلَعُ فَتَيَمَّمْ» قَالَ: ثُمَّ أَرَانِي الْأَسْلَعَ كَيْفَ عَلَّمَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ التَّيَمُّمَ، قَالَ: ضَرَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِكَفَّيْهِ الْأَرْضَ، ثُمَّ نَفَضَهُمَا، ثُمَّ مَسَحَ بِهِمَا وَجْهَهُ حَتَّى أَمَرَّ عَلَى لِحْيَتِهِ، ثُمَّ أَعَادَهُمَا إِلَى الْأَرْضِ، فَمَسَحَ بِكَفَّيْهِ الْأَرْضَ، فَدَلَكَ إِحْدَاهُمَا بِالْأُخْرَى، ثُمَّ نَفَضَهُمَا، ثُمَّ مَسَحَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ ظَاهِرَهُمَا وَبَاطِنَهُمَا
Sayyiduna al-Asla' (may Allah be pleased with him), a man from Banu al-A'raj bin Ka'b, said: I used to serve the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "O Asla', get up and show me how such-and-such is done." I said: O Messenger of Allah, I am in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah). He (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent for a while, until Jibril (peace be upon him) came with the verse of tayammum, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Asla', get up and perform tayammum." He said: Then he showed me how the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had taught him tayammum: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) struck the ground with his two palms, then shook them off, then wiped his face with them until he passed them over his beard. Then he put them back on the ground, wiped the ground with his two palms, rubbed one against the other, then shook them off, then wiped the outer and inner sides of his forearms.
حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى شِيرَانُ الرَّامَهُرْمُزِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ، ثنا الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ أَبِي سَوِيَّةَ الْمِنْقَرِيُّ، ثنا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ رُزَيْقٍ الْمَالِكِيُّ، مِنْ بَنِي مَالِكِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَاشَ مِائَةً وَسَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ الْأَسْلَعِ بْنِ شَرِيكٍ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ أُرَحِّلُ نَاقَةَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَصَابَتْنِي جَنَابَةٌ فِي لَيْلَةٍ بَارِدَةٍ، وَأَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الرِّحْلَةَ، وَكَرِهْتُ أَنْ أَرْحَلَ نَاقَتَهُ، وَأَنَا جُنُبٌ، وَخَشِيتُ أَنْ أَغْتَسِلَ بِالْمَاءِ الْبَارِدِ فَأَمُوتَ أَوْ أُمَرِّضَ، فَأَمَرْتُ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَرَحَلَّهَا، وَوَضَعْتُ أَحْجَارًا، فَأَسْخَنْتُ بِهَا مَاءً فَاغْتَسَلْتُ، ثُمَّ لَحِقْتُ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَصْحَابِهِ، فَقَالَ: «يَا أَسْلَعُ، مَا لِي أَرَى رِحْلَتَكَ تَغَيَّرَتْ؟» فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، لَمْ أَرْحَلْهَا، رَحَلَهَا رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ، قَالَ: «وَلِمَ؟» فَقُلْتُ: إِنِّي أَصَابَتْنِي جَنَابَةٌ فَخَشِيتُ الْقُرَّ عَلَى نَفْسِي، فَأَمَرْتُهُ أَنْ يَرْحَلَهَا، وَوَضَعْتُ أَحْجَارًا فَأَسْخَنْتُ مَاءً وَاغْتَسَلْتُ بِهِ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَقْرَبُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَأَنْتُمْ سُكَارَى} [النساء: ٤٣] إِلَى: {إِنَّ اللهَ كَانَ عَفُوًّا غَفُورًا} [النساء: ٤٣]
Sayyiduna al-Asla' bin Sharik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I used to saddle the she-camel of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). On a cold night I became in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wanted to set off. I disliked saddling his she-camel (peace and blessings be upon him) while in a state of janabah, and I also feared that if I bathed with cold water I would die or fall ill. So I asked a man from the Ansar to saddle it, and I placed some stones and heated water with them and bathed. Then I caught up with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Asla', why do I see that your saddling has changed?" I said: O Messenger of Allah, I did not saddle it; a man from the Ansar saddled it. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Why?" I said: I was in a state of janabah and feared the cold for myself, so I asked him to saddle it, and I placed some stones, heated water and bathed with it. Thereupon Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "O you who believe, do not approach prayer while you are intoxicated" up to "Indeed Allah is Ever-Pardoning, Most Forgiving." [Surah al-Nisa: 43]
