حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي الطَّاهِرِ بْنِ السَّرْحِ الْمِصْرِيُّ، وَيَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْعَلَّافُ، قَالَا: ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنِ الْمُنِيبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي، قَالَ: انْصَرَفْتُ مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ فَإِذَا بِرَجُلٍ عَلَيْهِ ثِيَابٌ بِيضٌ، وَقَمِيصٌ وَرِدَاءٌ، فَقَالَ لِي: أَخْبَرَنِي جَدُّكَ أَبُو أُمَامَةَ بْنُ ثَعْلَبَةَ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: «إِنَّ الْبَذَاذَةَ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ، إِنَّ الْبَذَاذَةَ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ، إِنَّ الْبَذَاذَةَ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ»
Al-Munib bin Abdullah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I came out of the mosque and met a man in white clothes, a shirt and a cloak. He said to me: Your grandfather, Sayyiduna Abu Umamah bin Tha'labah (may Allah be pleased with him), told me from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, simplicity is part of faith. Indeed, simplicity is part of faith. Indeed, simplicity is part of faith."
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ السَّمَيْدَعِ الْأَنْطَاكِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ الصُّورِيُّ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ، أَنَّ أَبَا الْمُنِيبِ بْنَ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّهُ لَقِيَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُوكَ، قَالَ: كُنَّا فِي مَجْلِسٍ نَتَذَاكَرُ فِيهِ الدُّنْيَا، فَخَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: «الْبَذَاذَةُ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ» ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ
Abu al-Munib bin Abi Umamah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated that he met Abdullah bin Ka'b bin Malik, who said: Your father (Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him)) told me: We were in a gathering discussing the world, when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to us and said: "Simplicity is part of faith." Three times.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْحَلَبِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ، أَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ أَبِي الْحُسَامِ، حَدَّثَنِي صَالِحُ بْنُ كَيْسَانَ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ حَدَّثَهُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ الْبَذَاذَةَ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ، إِنَّ الْبَذَاذَةَ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ»
Salih bin Kaysan narrated that Abdullah bin Abi Umamah bin Tha'labah narrated from his father, Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him), that he used to say: the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, simplicity is part of faith. Indeed, simplicity is part of faith."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عَنْبَسَةَ الْعَبَّادَانِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ حُمْرَانَ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَاكَ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «إِنَّ الْبَذَاذَةَ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ» ، يَعْنِي التَّقَشُّفَ
Abd al-Rahman bin Ka'b bin Malik said: I heard your father, Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him), say: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Indeed, simplicity is part of faith." Meaning a plain, austere life.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُنِيبِ الْمَدَنِيُّ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرَهُمْ بِالْخُرُوجِ إِلَى بَدْرٍ، وَأَجْمَعَ الْخُرُوجَ مَعَهُ» فَقَالَ لَهُ خَالُهُ أَبُو بُرْدَةَ بْنُ نِيَارٍ: أَقِمْ عَلَى أُمِّكَ يَا ابْنَ أُخْتٍ، فَقَالَ أَبُو أُمَامَةَ: بَلْ أَنْتَ أَقِمْ عَلَى أُخْتِكَ، فَذُكِرَ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، «فَأَمَرَ أَبَا أُمَامَةَ بِالْمُقَامِ عَلَى أُمِّهِ، وَخَرَجَ بِأَبِي بُرْدَةَ، فَقَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَدْ تُوُفِّيَتْ، فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah bin Tha'labah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) informed them of the march to Badr, and he resolved to go out with him (peace and blessings be upon him). His maternal uncle, Abu Burdah bin Niyar, said to him: O nephew, stay with your mother. Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Rather, you stay with your sister. This was mentioned to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Abu Umamah to stay with his mother, and set out taking Abu Burdah with him. Then, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned, his mother had passed away, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) led her funeral prayer.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَزَّازُ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْأَزْدِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْأَسْلَمِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُنِيبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ الْبَلَوِيُّ، وَكَانَ اسْمُهُ إِيَاسَ بْنَ ثَعْلَبَةَ قَدْ صَحِبَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: «أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ نَتَوَضَّأَ مِنَ الْغَمْرِ، وَلَا يُؤْذِي بَعْضُنَا بَعْضًا»
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah al-Balawi (may Allah be pleased with him): his name was Iyas bin Tha'labah, and he was a Companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered us to wash our hands of the grease of food, and not to cause harm to one another.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَزَّازُ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْأَزْدِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُنِيبِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ، قَالَ: «كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَجْلِسُ الْقُرْفُصَاءَ»
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to sit with his knees drawn up (in the posture called qurfusa').
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي الطَّاهِرِ بْنِ السَّرْحِ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُنِيبِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أُنَيْسٍ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو أُمَامَةَ بْنُ ثَعْلَبَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «مَنْ تَوَلَّى غَيْرَ مَوَالِيهِ فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ، لَا يُقْبَلُ مِنْهُ صَرْفٌ وَلَا عَدْلٌ، وَمَنْ حَلَفَ عِنْدَ مِنْبَرِي هَذَا بِيَمِينٍ كَاذِبَةٍ يَسْتَحِلُّ بِهَا مَالَ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ، فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللهِ، وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ، وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ، لَا يُقْبَلُ مِنْهُ صَرْفٌ، وَلَا عَدْلٌ، وَمَنْ أَحْدَثَ فِي مَدِينَتِي هَذِهِ حَدَثًا آوَى مُحْدِثًا، فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ، وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ، لَا يَقْبَلُ اللهُ مِنْهُ صَرْفًا، وَلَا عَدْلًا»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah bin Tha'labah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever attributes himself to anyone other than his true patrons (who freed him), upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels and all the people; neither repentance nor ransom will be accepted from him. And whoever swears a false oath beside this pulpit of mine, seeking thereby to seize the wealth of a Muslim unjustly, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels and all the people; neither repentance nor ransom will be accepted from him. And whoever introduces an innovation in this city of mine, or gives shelter to one who introduces an innovation, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels and all the people; Allah will accept from him neither repentance nor ransom."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا الْغَلَابِيُّ، أَنْبَأَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ، أَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ أَبِي الْحُسَامِ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَنَّ مَعْبَدَ بْنَ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَخْبَرَهُ، عَنْ أَخِيهِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا أُمَامَةَ بْنَ ثَعْلَبَةَ، يَقُولُ: كُنَّا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: «مَنِ اقْتَطَعَ مَالَ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ بِيَمِينِهِ، فَقَدْ أَوْجَبَ اللهُ لَهُ النَّارَ وَحَرَّمَ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ» فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ: وَإِنْ شَيْءٌ يَسِيرٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «وَإِنْ قَضِيبًا مِنْ أَرَاكٍ»
Ma'bad bin Ka'b bin Malik narrated that his brother, Abdullah bin Ka'b bin Malik, told him that he heard Sayyiduna Abu Umamah bin Tha'labah (may Allah be pleased with him) say: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever seizes the wealth of a Muslim by means of his (false) oath, Allah has made Hell obligatory for him and has forbidden Paradise to him." A man said: O Messenger of Allah, even if it is something small? the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Even if it is a twig of the arak tree."
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ، أَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ مَعْبَدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، عَنْ أَخِيهِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «مَنِ اقْتَطَعَ مَالَ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ بِيَمِينِهِ، حَرَّمَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ، وَأَوْجَبَ لَهُ النَّارَ» قَالُوا: وَإِنْ كَانَ شَيْئًا يَسِيرًا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ: «وَإِنْ كَانَ قَضِيبًا مِنْ أَرَاكٍ» قَالَهَا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever seizes the wealth of a Muslim by means of his oath, Allah has forbidden Paradise to him and has made Hell obligatory for him." The Companions said: Even if it is something small, O Messenger of Allah? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Even if it is a twig of the arak tree." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said this three times.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَرُوبَةَ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو الْمُعَافَى، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ مَعْبَدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «مَنِ اقْتَطَعَ بِيَمِينِهِ حَقَّ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ حَرَّمَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ، وَأَوْجَبَ لَهُ النَّارَ» فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ: وَإِنْ شَيْئًا يَسِيرًا؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «وَإِنْ قَضِيبًا مِنْ أَرَاكٍ»
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever seizes the right of a Muslim by means of his oath, Allah has forbidden Paradise to him and has made Hell obligatory for him." A man stood up and said: Even if it is something small? the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Even if it is a twig of the arak tree."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، ثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ، أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَخَاهُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ كَعْبٍ، يُحَدِّثُ، أَنَّ أَبَا أُمَامَةَ بْنَ ثَعْلَبَةَ الْحَارِثِيَّ حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «لَا يَقْتَطِعُ رَجُلٌ حَقَّ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ بِيَمِينِهِ إِلَّا حَرَّمَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ، وَأَوْجَبَ لَهُ النَّارَ» فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ: وَإِنْ كَانَ يَسِيرًا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ فَقَالَ: «وَإِنْ كَانَ سِوَاكًا مِنْ أَرَاكٍ»
Muhammad bin Ka'b bin Malik narrated that he heard his brother, Abdullah bin Ka'b, narrate that Sayyiduna Abu Umamah bin Tha'labah al-Harithi (may Allah be pleased with him) told him that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "No man seizes the right of a Muslim by means of his oath except that Allah forbids Paradise to him and makes Hell obligatory for him." A man from among the people said: O Messenger of Allah, even if it is something small? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Even if it is a tooth-stick (miswak) of the arak tree."
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي الطَّاهِرِ بْنِ السَّرْحِ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَزِيزٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ، ثنا سَلَامَةُ بْنُ رَوْحٍ، عَنْ عَقِيلٍ، عَنْ مَعْبَدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، أَنَّ أَخَاهُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا أُمَامَةَ الْحَارِثِيَّ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «لَا يَقْتَطِعُ رَجُلٌ حَقَّ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ بِيَمِينِهِ إِلَّا حَرَّمَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ وَأَوْجَبَ لَهُ النَّارَ» فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَإِنْ شَيْئًا يَسِيرًا؟ قَالَ: «وَإِنْ كَانَ سِوَاكًا مِنْ أَرَاكٍ»

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عَنْبَسَةَ الْعَبَّادَانِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ حُمْرَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَاكَ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «مَنِ اقْتَطَعَ مَالَ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ بِيَمِينٍ كَاذِبَةٍ كَانَتِ نُكْتَةً سَوْدَاءَ فِي قَلْبِهِ، لَا يُغَيِّرُهَا شَيْءٌ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ»
Abd al-Rahman bin Ka'b bin Malik said: I heard your father, Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him), say: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever seizes the wealth of a Muslim by a false oath, it becomes a black spot on his heart, which nothing can remove until the Day of Resurrection."
