Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Amrah al-Ansari (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father Sayyiduna Abu Amrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on a military expedition which he (peace and blessings be upon him) undertook, and the people were struck by severe hunger. The people asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for permission to slaughter some of their riding camels, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to give them permission for that. Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! What do you think if we slaughter our riding camels and then tomorrow we meet our enemy hungry and on foot? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What is your opinion, O Umar?" He said: Call the people with the remainder of their provisions (food and drink), then supplicate for blessing in it for us; Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will, through your supplication, bring us through, if Allah wills. The narrator said: It was as if there had been a covering over the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) which was removed. He (peace and blessings be upon him) called for a cloth and ordered it to be spread out, then called the people with the remainder of their provisions, and they brought whatever they had. One brought a bowl of food - or a handful - and another brought an amount the size of an egg. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the order and it was placed on that cloth; then he (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated for blessing in it and said what Allah willed (him to say). Then he called out in the army, and they came; then he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered them, and they ate and were satisfied, and filled their vessels and their bags. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) called for a vessel, which was placed before him (peace and blessings be upon him); then he called for water and poured it into it, then rinsed his mouth into it and said what Allah willed, then put his little finger into it. The narrator said: I swear by Allah that I saw springs of water gushing from the fingers of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the people, and they drank and gave (their animals) to drink, and filled their water-skins and vessels. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) laughed until his (peace and blessings be upon him) molar teeth became visible, and then said: "I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, alone, without any partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. Whoever meets Allah on the Day of Resurrection with these two (testimonies) will enter Paradise, whatever state he is in."

Sayyiduna Abu Amrah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I know this only from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): that he (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: O Messenger of Allah! What do you say about the one who believed in you but did not see you, and affirmed you but did not see you - what is there for them? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Glad tidings for them, glad tidings for them. They are of us; they are with us."
