حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ: قِيلَ لِابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ: هَلْ لَكَ فِي الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ تَقْطُرُ لِحْيَتُهُ خَمْرًا، قَالَ: «قَدْ نُهِينَا عَنِ التَّجَسُّسِ، فَإِنْ يَظْهَرْ لَنَا - يَعْنِي - نُقِيمُ عَلَيْهِ»
Zayd bin Wahb said that it was said to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): "Are you aware that wine is dripping from the beard of al-Walid bin Uqbah?" He said: "We have been forbidden from spying; if it becomes evident to us, we will carry out the prescribed punishment on him."
