Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 9685 — A man came to Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، وَالْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ جَارِيَةً لِي أَرْضَعَتِ ابْنًا لِي، وَأَنَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَبِيعَهَا، قَالَ: فَمَقَتَهُ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ، وَقَالَ: «لَيْتَهُ يُنَادِي مَنْ أَبِيعُهُ أُمَّ وَلَدِي»
Alqamah narrated: A man came to Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "A slave girl of mine has breastfed a son of mine, and I want to sell her." The narrator said: Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) expressed his displeasure with him and said: "Would that he went about calling out: 'Who will I sell my child's mother to!'"
